Event of the Month Recap

April 24, 2013

FCC welcomed the documentary film director Jeffrey Jousan and his latest work “Women of Fukushima,” featuring six ordinary women in Fukushima who, in the wake of the nuclear power plant fiasco after 3/11, stood up to publicly protest against the central and local governments on their inaction for protecting people from nuclear danger and their concealment of critical information from the public.

In this 30 minute documentary, made in a plain, yet powerful story-telling style by these women directly affected by the forced evacuation of Fukushima dwellers in the wake of the TEPCO nuclear power plant disaster conveys the agony and anger of ordinary citizens whose real suffering was caused by and buried under “neglect.” Regardless of your position on the nuclear power issue, this film will definitely offer you an opportunity to ponder the consequences of nuclear failure and its ramifications on every aspect of our daily lives in a very eloquent manner.
